Easy Kids’ Party Treats – the freshest summer ideas for birthdays

Summer, sunshine and birthday parties - what a perfect combination! How to create easy children's party treats and snacks? Believe it or not, children's party catering can be both delicious and fun, without stress or long preparations. In this blog, we share tips on how to build fresh and visually pleasing summer party treats with ease.

And the best thing is - when you choose a party box as the theme, the whole look of the party is already in place. All you need to do is complement it with the appropriate catering. 💛

Fun and easy-to-make party favours

At a children's party, it's not about fancy and complicated treats - it's about fun, ease and treats that little ones will actually enjoy. Here are some tried and tested and popular ideas, some of which can be prepared in a jiffy and some of which can be a fun party day treat!

1. Colourful fruit crates

Chop up watermelon, banana, grapes, pineapple or any other delicious fruit you fancy. Slide onto a stick and serve beautifully on a platter, for example. An attractive, healthy and easy-to-eat treat.

If you don't have long sticks, this can also be done with toothpicks. In this case, place a few pieces of fruit on the stick and insert the stick into the watermelon half. You get a lovely and cute watermelon cake.

2. Muffins for kids - decoration can be part of the programme

Bake a simple muffin batter in a muffin tin of your choice, or buy ready-made ones from the shop. Decorate according to the theme.

A super-easy way to add a themed look by colouring the icing or using themed nonpareils or small candies. Children can decorate their own too, so this can be made into a programme for a small party group.

And best of all, muffins are good for adults too.

3. Ice cream bar - a surefire summer hit

Serve a few different flavours and toppings in the coolest dessert of the summer: strudel, marshmallows, fruit and berries. Make the trays your own "point of choice" to inspire and delight partygoers. But remember, this treat is not only melt-in-your-mouth, but also digests quickly on the table ;)

4. Savoury favourites: pizzas and hot dogs

Make mini pizzas from ready-made dough, you can find plenty of instructions online, or buy ready-made from the shop.

Hide the buns in the butter dough around the buns of the butter dough so that the ends of the buns are visible. Or you can also make a traditional triangular waffle hide, with the waffles inside the dough. They're ready in no time in advance and disappear quickly into better mouths.

5. Marshmallow sticks or candy cups

The marshmallows can be put on a stick in a jiffy - they're easy to serve and, above all, they look lovely and spectacular.

Candy cups or even candy puffs are also a guaranteed favourite with children. The sweets can be served to the partygoers in small themed mugs in portions - this also keeps hygiene to a minimum. The wonderfully intriguing candy shop style in the form of a candy puff is also a guaranteed hit - and you don't need a million quality ones, just a few different kinds of candy will do. You can top it off with a lovely serving dish.

Remember to look out for candies in the box that do not pose a choking hazard, especially for the little ones.

6. Themed drink - the final touch of the party

Did you know that just juice can add a whole lot of flair to a party theme? Yes it can, it's been tested. Choose the juice according to the theme (e.g. green, purple, blue) and serve from transparent jugs. You can label the juice(s) as for example "magic drink", "power drink", "elixir drink" or even "super drink". All these lovely little brain teasers will appeal to children.

And you can also throw in some fruit or berries of the right colour.

Planning your catering is easy when you think of four categories to help you start brainstorming:

  • Fruit and healthy: fruit tartlets, watermelon cake, smoothies
  • Sweet and decorative: muffins, candies, marshmallow sticks, cake
  • Savoury snacks: mini pizzas, sandwiches, crisps bowls, popovers
  • Drinks and finishing: juices according to the theme, decorative straws

Here come some additional lovely themed tips for each of our children's parties according to the theme. Easy, isn't it?

A checklist for you: how to make a success of your catering

  • Check your allergies
  • Determine the number of children and adults
  • Think about the age of your children - what really sinks in
  • Is the cake or the muffin more important to the hero?
  • Juices by colour theme
  • Pre-portioned or buffet style?
  • Covered table or buffet style
  • Hygiene
  • Salty and sweet or just sweet?
  • When guests have eaten their food before arriving at the party - it determines how much is served
